I’m always looking for ways to better support my family and their well-being, which means I’m usually spending hours scouring the internet for tips. On one particular day, I had a bee in my bonnet about sunscreen – as I’d heard some bad things about the product I was using. I was basically looking for the best Australian sunscreen available.
I read a bunch of forums, and from the information I was given, there was a product called Blue Lizard that seemed to be recommended more than any other. My eldest son got terribly sun burnt the previous time we headed out on our travels, and I was not going to let it happen again.
The Best Australian Sunscreen Was Mineral Based
The first big difference I noticed was that this sunscreen was mineral based. Apparently created with zinc oxide as its base, Blue Lizard wasn’t like the brands I’d always bought before. This was information I needed to know, as it seemed that it was applied differently.
The best Australian sunscreen from the company also came in the same SPF ratings that you’d normally expect from pretty much every product on the market.
Trying it Out Was a Real Eye-Opener!
So, I was sold on the idea of trying this new product out, and the first time we cracked the lid, you could tell that this was much thicker and more viscous than chemical lotions. After watching a couple of YouTube videos on how to apply it (putting small dots about an inch apart all over the skin), we got the hang of it, and the protection it offered was a real eye-opener.
As I found out online, it provides effective UV protection from the moment it’s applied. I can’t tell you how frustrating it used to be trying to get my kids to sit still and stay inside for half an hour while their chemical sunscreen was absorbed. To be honest, that’s the main reason why my son got burned that time before. He just didn’t want to stay inside long enough for it to work.
The Clincher: No More Post-Sun Irritation
I was 90% of the way to being convinced that this was the best thing for my kids’ skin during the Summer already, however, when I saw what it provided – UV protection without irritation – I was 100% of the way there. My kids were able to go out and play in the sun all day, and after their night bath, there was no redness, no irritation and no sun damage.
That was the clincher, as that’s basically what you buy the stuff for.
In My Eyes Blue Lizard IS the Best Australian Sunscreen
From what I’ve experienced so far, I managed to find the best product on the market for my needs. That’s why mineral sunscreen from Blue Lizard is now my go-to choice, and I have two bottles of it – complete with its groovy color-changing top – in my kitchen cupboard.
The brands I bought before were ok, but I could never seem to trust them to keep my kids’ skin free from the sun’s impact. That’s no longer the case, and I happily tell anyone who asks that they should do exactly the same and switch over.
